Meet your new therapist
A little about me:
Hi, I’m Madeline!
I’ve worked in the mental health field since 2017 and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia. I began working in a research lab studying Terror Management Theory where I helped conduct studies on suicidology, death anxiety and religion. Learning how to compassionately navigate these topics while gathering data was part of what inspired me to explore the world of psychotherapy and mental health counseling.
During my post-graduate studies and years in residency, I worked in community mental health, inpatient forensic/legal settings, group practice, and a university counseling center. It has been so fulfilling to work with clients and gifted clinicians in each of these spaces.
As a private practice owner, I’m able to form strong therapeutic relationships with each of my clients and expand my skills with new modalities. Adapting my style and interventions allows me to be more creative and collaborative. Clients often describe my therapy style as conversational, dynamic, and compassion-focused. Sessions will be more or less structured depending on where we are in the process of achieving your goals. I strive to meet you wherever you are on your healing journey.
When I’m not in session, I’m spending time in nature with friends, traveling (or daydreaming about traveling) with my husband, cooking, and playing with my cat, Pinkie, so she doesn’t plot on my downfall. I’m a big fan of a documentary or book on a niche topic, horror movies, or getting obsessed with a new hobby (e.g. knitting, printmaking) that may or may not last 2 weeks…
Being a therapist is such a privilege and one of my life’s greatest joys. I love having a job that allows me to make a positive impact in my community and connect with others in a meaningful way.
